Through the Fort Bend ISD Student Voices Advisory Network, I learned how to raise awareness among peers and communicate effectively; on the Mayor’s Youth Council, I partnered with city staff, understood city workings and invited classmates into the work, translating neighborhood concerns into projects; as the Amnesty International Founder at Elkins, I learned it’s okay to be wrong and recover, to take small steps, listen deeply to peers, and build trust by working alongside them. I learned that debating for what you believe is the foundation for a community that represents all people at Texas Boys State, and through Refugee Congress, I carried local voices into state and national conversations about refugee support.
When young people engage with government at city, state and national levels, we can make real changes in our communities, and that same approach powered my advocacy on childhood diabetes, and ultimately allowed for an official Proclamation on Diabetes Awareness recognizing our community’s effort towards raising awareness on childhood diabetes. These experiences showed me that debate, teamwork, and civic engagement are powerful tools and that an open mind towards other viewpoints is what makes them effective.
Founder & President (2024,2025)
Back home in Texas, I’ve made advocacy a priority. I founded the Amnesty International Club at Elkins High School and helped transform it into one of the most dynamic student-led organizations in our district. We’ve hosted human rights town halls, multicultural events, and even brought in a State Representative – an event that drew the largest student civic turnout in our school’s history. Our efforts earned the support of local leaders, including the mayor, and we’ve raised thousands of dollars in donations through drives and fundraisers.
We focus on raising awareness for human rights issues we are passionate about, especially teens. We encourage language learning, train students to support newly arrived peers, and teach cultural humility.
Due to the student engagement we generated, our club is now seen as a “club of clubs”, partnering with organizations like Rho Kappa, the African Student Association, and Global Women Voices. Our structure and event model have been adopted by several other student groups, multiplying our impact. What began as a small effort to raise awareness has grown into a student movement centered on action, collaboration, and empowering young voices.
Together, we have inspired youth engagement and supported over 100 teens and counting. See newspaper clipping
Texas Boys State
School Representative | State Representative | Chairmen of Educations (2025)
I was honored to be one of two students selected from my school to attend Texas Boys State, a program that builds leadership, civic engagement, and public service in young people. At Boys State, I was elected Chairman of the House Education Committee, where I drafted and debated legislation with students from across Texas. Through passionate debates and diverse perspectives, I learned the power of collaboration and the importance of giving youth a voice in shaping their future. It was inspiring to see differing viewpoints come together to create the best government we could imagine. The experience, and the people I met, left a lasting impact on me.
Mayor Youth Council
Delegate & Community Service Project Leader (2024,2025)
Through my experience on the Missouri City Mayor’s Youth Council, I gained a deeper understanding of how local leadership and civic engagement can drive meaningful change. It was there that I learned the significance of proclamations, not just as ceremonial gestures, but as powerful tools to raise awareness and mobilize community support.
Inspired by this, I launched a campaign focused on Juvenile Diabetes advocacy. With the support of city leaders, my efforts were formally recognized with a proclamation, an experience that affirmed the impact of youth led initiatives and the value of working closely with local government to amplify important causes.
Fort Bend ISD – Student Voice Advisory Network
Student Ambassador & Leader of Proposal Group (2023,2024)
Through my involvement in the Student Voice Advisory Network, I gained a deep understanding of effective leadership, communication, and advocacy. Selected as one of only 33 students out of 70,000, I helped raise mental health awareness, collaborated with district leaders, and represented my peers on critical issues. Over our one-year term, we presented to the board of directors of our district and successfully advocated for a weekly mental health awareness assembly in all FBISD schools, a proposal that was ultimately adopted district-wide. Additionally, serving on the media and communications committee taught me how to enhance outreach and engage our community more effectively. Organizing events and leading committees strengthened my confidence. My experience reinforced the importance of student voices; by engaging directly with real challenges, we not only grow as individuals but also help shape a positive and supportive school community.
Refugee Congress
Texas State Delegate (2025)
As the Texas Delegate to the Refugee Congress, I am committed to working collaboratively on local issues that impact both our state and the nation. My goal is to build partnerships and lead initiatives that uplift and empower refugees in Texas and across the country.
As delegate, I plan to speak at schools, universities, or community events to build empathy and understanding about refugee experiences.
As delegate, I will partner with NGOs, resettlement agencies, and civic organizations to design or improve programs for refugee support.
As delegate, I will write testimonies, or op-eds to highlight gaps and propose solutions.
